Fall 2007 Adult Education Opportunities
Mixed Adults Class, meets in the Parlor Some lecture, considerable discussion.
Topic: The Vocation of Servanthood. This study will bridge the Old and New Testaments, as we explore the servant theme from the amazing prophetic insight that Israel’s role is to be that of a servant to the redemptive acts of Christ as servant Lord.
As resources, we’ll examine selected passages in Isaiah, supplemented by a printed guide, leading into the season of Advent. At that time, we’ll start using Frederick Buechner’s book, The Faces Of Jesus, A Life Story, that begins with the Annunciation and continues through the Nativity, Ministry, Last Supper, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ
Christian Currents, led by Fred Woodward, meeting in Westminster Hall, is a discussion based class for adults of all ages. Topics for this year include the “Hudson Reads Together” Bible readings, the book Missional Church: A Vision for the Sending of the Church in North America, a class mission project, and “get to know you” interviews with members of the Hudson community. New voices are always welcome. Please join us as we seek to grow together in faith. Click here for more information on Christian Currents
The Covenant Class (Room 100) will engage in a guided study of Turn My Mourning Into Dancing by Henri Nouwen. Nouwen is an inspired writer/priest who provides practical suggestions for our everyday lives.
Seekers Class - After a year’s sabbatical, the Seekers class will reunite for Bible Study in the Fall of 2007. The format for this curriculum, which has proven to be very successful for the Seekers, brings together members of the class to jointly reflect on selected passages from scripture as explained by the Present Word study guide and to collectively as well as individually discern meaning for our present world
