 Habitat for Humanity

Did you know that Hudson helped build the first Habitat for Humanity house in Raleigh? Since then, the church has been involved with this program throughout the years, and it is currently one of our primary local missions.

The Mission Committee is excited that our congregation is participating in the 2020 Interfaith Build for Habitat for Humanity. As in past builds, we will partner with a number of faith communities, Habitat staff, AmeriCorps Volunteers and the homeowner to construct this house. What is new this year is that our interfaith coalition is one of five faith coalitions constructing houses next to each other as part of a “Leap of Faith Build.” The five houses will go up at the same time in a new Habitat subdivision in South Raleigh. Wall raising begins on Leap Day, Saturday February 29th with occupancy expected in mid May.

The Interfaith Coalition work assignments have been made so that different groups are together on each work day. Participants in the build are: Apex Mosque, Beth Myer Synagogue, Community for Mindful Living, First Church of Christ Scientist, Hindu Society of North Carolina, Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Islamic Association of Raleigh, Kadampa Center for the Practice of Tibetan Buddhism, NC State Muslim Student Association, Raleigh/Cary Jewish Family Services, Raleigh Mennonite, Raleigh Sai Center, St. Paul’s Christian Church, The Light House Project, The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina, Temple Beth Or, Triangle Interfaith Alliance, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, Unity Temple of Raleigh, Won Buddhism of NC-Raleigh Center.
The Interfaith Build for Habitat for Humanity begins February 29th. Registration for Work Days is open now!

Note our assigned days and if you would like to volunteer please do two things: (1) e-mail Cary Dickerson so we have an accurate list of HMPC volunteers and (2) sign up using the Habitat link (http://vhub.at/interfaithbuild).
The two dates highlighted in italics are open for sign ups using the volunteer registration link (http://vhub.at/interfaithbuild).
