Monday, April 20
Say a prayer this morning:
God, we stand in awe of your gift of Creation. Teach us to be responsible recipients of this gift. Illuminate our role in stewarding it well. Amen.
(Taken from Tread Lightly for Lent, Presbyterian Church USA 2026)
Read Job 12:7-10. Consider what Creation might teach you today.
7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
8 ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you,
and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
9 Who among all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every living thing
and the breath of every human being.
Take a Walk with Purpose
Take a walk and soak in the beauty around you, paying attention to the richness of God’s creation - even in the tiniest things. Consider bringing a bag along to pick up litter as you go. It’s a simple way to help care for our neighborhoods, parks, and shared spaces.
As you walk, think about some steps you could take to give some intentional care for all God’s creation over the course of the week. What will you do?

Tuesday, April 21
Say a prayer this morning:
Creator of the waterfalls and deserts, who refreshes us daily, help us to be more like your son, Jesus Christ, as we care for our neighbors, human and animal alike. Amen.
(Taken from Tread Lightly for Lent, Presbyterian Church USA 2026)
Reflect on Your Environmental Impact
Becoming aware of our impact can help us make thoughtful, faithful choices in how we care for creation. The Nature Conservancy offers a helpful online tool to calculate your carbon footprint and explore ways to reduce it:

Wednesday, April 22
Say a prayer this morning:
God of all, instill in us the knowledge that we are called upon to tend and care for your garden. Grant us the wisdom to cultivate it for the good of all, so that all your creatures may be fed from the bounty of your creation. Amen.
(Taken from Tread Lightly for Lent, Presbyterian Church USA 2026)
Plant some seeds!
This is an ideal time of year in North Carolina to plant a lot of veggies and herbs. Check out a full list at the Farmer's Almanac. https://www.almanac.com/gardening/planting-calendar/nc/Raleigh
Read Psalm 96:11-12 and reflect on one way you see the Earth rejoicing.
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar and all that fills it;
12 Let the field exult and everything in it.
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy

Thursday, April 23
Take some time to sit outside and reflect on God’s creation.
Bring a journal, and let the prompts below guide your thoughts. You might also invite a friend or family member to join you—these questions can spark meaningful conversation together.
• What gifts has the earth given you?
• What are some of your favorite memories of connecting with nature? Have you ever felt especially close to God in those moments?
• What is one way you can stay more connected to nature? How might you be a more faithful steward of God’s creation?
• If you enjoy drawing, try sketching a beautiful part of the natural world around you.

Friday, April 24
Read Isaiah 42:5. Spend 3 minutes reflecting on the breath that fills your lungs and say a prayer for all those living in situations where clean air is not afforded to them.
Thus says God, the Lord,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people upon it
and spirit to those who walk in it:
Gather and Recycle Your E-Waste
Not sure what to do with old electronics like phones, printers, or batteries? These can be very toxic to the environment if thrown out with regular trash. Consider recycling them responsibly!
If you missed Sunday’s event at West Raleigh PC, you can visit Anything With A Plug Recycling (10131 Division Drive), open Monday–Friday 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00–4:00 p.m. They ask that you go to the back to drop off items.
Lots of things are accepted but check the complete list of acceptable items HERE.
Sunday, April 26, listen to the Chancel Choir’s anthem, which celebrates our beautiful Earth.
For the Beauty of the Earth:
For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light.
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.
For each perfect gift of thine to our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine, flowers of earth and buds of heaven.
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
